Veneer Flush Doors

 What is a Veneer?

A veneer is a thin slice of the Timber/ wood. Like when we peel a potato to make chips, in a similar manner, a veneer is a thin slice taken out from a log. Most people even today say 4mm veneer sheet. Actual veneer thickness is + or - 0.5mm, pasted to the plywood.

There are Natural veneers and Recon Veneers. A slice obtained from Natural Wood/Log,  whereas Recon Veneers undergo a process of dyeing,  laminating and re-slicing before obtaining the desired color and pattern.

As part of Natural Wood characteristic, grains/look, and pattern variation may occur from piece to piece, batch to batch and do not indicate a product defect.

Recon veneer, on the other hand, offers more consistent grain patterns and the difference between batches may not be as wide compared to the Natural range.

For Doors which is Best? Slice veneer pasted to door in Factory or market sold 4mm veneer sheet pasted on the door?

Definitely factory pasted veneer on the door. Generally, door shutters thickness starts at 30mm and this thin slice can be pasted directly on one side or two sides.

The market sold 4mm veneer if used, then door thickness will increase to 30mm + 4mm + 4mm and also, you will have to buy 32 square feet ( 8 x 4- 1 nos) for a door of 18 square feet ( 81" x 32"). Imagine the wastage.
